Music therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, sensory, cognitive, academic, and social needs of individuals. After assessing the strengths and areas for growth of each client, a board-certified music therapist provides the indicated treatment including creating, playing, singing, moving to, and/or listening to music to reach therapeutic goals. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives.
Your donation funds scholarships which provide music therapy sessions for individuals and community organizations in the Ozarks. Music therapy serves individuals throughout the lifespan and is inclusive to all abilities and diagnoses. MTO has provided scholarship funding in our community for children and adults with developmental disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, residents at assisted-living and memory-care facilities, hospice patients, Isabel’s House, Boyd Elementary, Cox Health’s NICU, and Victory Mission.
